Not such a stretch: Klinsmann would be ideal for England says Beckenbauer
Beckenbauer, in his column for Bild, said: "The England job would be ideal for him (Klinsmann). And (ideal for) England as well.
"He is looking for a role in a country with a great tradition and appetite for football.
"He would be the man for a new beginning for England. He speaks the language perfectly, from his time with Tottenham, and he was player of the year there."
Beckenbauer, a former Germany boss, will seek out FA chairman Geoff Thompson at this weekend's World Cup draw to recommend Klinsman. Beckenbauer said: "I will hope to meet Mr Thompson in Durban and then I will tell him about Jurgen."
Beckenbauer says Klinsmann would be the perfect choice as England's next manager because of his "image, ideas and strength to deal with the pressure".
Klinsmann is on the FA's hit list and has been steadily supported this morning with punters . He is currently 12-1 with on-line bookmaker Jaxx.
With Martin O'Neill and ex-Chelsea manager Jose Maourinho already ruling themselves out, Klinsmann's stock is rising higher.
Klinsmann currently lives in Los Angeles, but would be prepared to move to London to take the England job, according to friends.
One of them admitted in the Mirror: "This would be a dream job for Jurgen. It is the one he really wants.
"He is not worried about being a German in charge of England because he knows the country, knows the football and hopes after his time in the Premier League that he is popular there.
"He believes the job is a great one."
England manager odds - Jaxx bet: 9-4 F Capello, 4 J Mouriunho, 8 H Redknapp, 9 M. O'Neill, 12 J. Klinsmann, 13 A. Shearer, 15 R. Benitez, 17 L.Scolari, 21 S.Coppell, 26 S. Pearce, G.Hiddink, M.Lippi
