Spurs new boy Dos Santos vows to wow fans with his 'special qualities'
26 June 2008
New Tottenham signing Giovani dos Santos is adjusting well to life in London and insists his time in England will help him develop as a player.
The 19-year-old Mexico international, who signed from Barcelona last month
revealed he was motivated by the challenge of playing in the Premier League and
was keen to see more first-team action than he did during his time in Spain.
"The people here have been very welcoming," said Dos Santos.
Ready for the challenge: Dos Santos has learned from the best - now he wants to be the best
"It is a club with a lot of history and the passion that surrounds football in England has always caught my eye. It's highly motivating.
"For me, it's a new challenge. I've come to England to make the best of all my
qualities.
"I've come here from a big club, I want to play plenty of minutes and give the
fans plenty of joy. It'll be good to grow as a player."
Dos Santos rose through the ranks at Barca after joining the club at the age of
13.
At the Nou Camp he grew up with other prodigious talents such as Lionel Messi
and Bojan Krkic, and last season featured in the first team alongside the likes
of Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o.
And the forward believes playing alongside those greats of the game will help
him when his career in England gets under way in earnest.
"I've learned a lot playing alongside them," he continued. "I always watched
the things they did. They're great players."
