Spurs say £40m Berb is staying

Juande Ramos admitted his Tottenham team were not clinical enough in front of goal during the 1-1 draw with Blackburn.

Renewed speculation at the weekend suggested that Dimitar Berbatov may be allowed to leave for around £40million.

What was clear at Ewood Park is that the Bulgarian remains Spurs' most prized asset and it may now be time to cash in on him and rebuild if the Spanish boss wants to bring Champions League football to the club.

Star man: Berbatov scores against Blackburn

Ramos said: "We are just not being assertive in the final shot. Football is all about converting your chances. We were in front of goal on a number of occasions with a number of opportunities.

"I think it is just being a little bit more assertive in that final finish. That is what is missing."

Berbatov collected his 22nd goal of the season before Morten Gamst Pedersen's equaliser.

Top continental clubs, notably those from Milan, are monitoring the Berbatov situation along with Manchester United. Ramos insists the player is going nowhere.
