Tom Huddlestone, skipper for the second half, and Theo Walcott, will have impressed the England boss, who has the pair in his squad for upcoming games against the United States and Trinidad & Tobago.
David Wheater, Gabriel Agbonlahor and goalkeeper Joe Hart, are also in Capello's squad, and Under 21 coach Stuart Pearce said: "It added spice because they knew Fabio was there.
Coll Cubs: Huddlestone opens the scoring from the penalty spot and Walcott (below) also causes the Welsh trouble. . .
"That's what you expect from him with his work ethic, and he showed his face in the dressing room. That's worth a thousand words from me.
"Now they have to nudge Fabio's hand in training next week and show what they can do. If any of them get on, they will do themselves credit."
Brian Flynn's Wales' side did their best to lift the gloom on Thursday night at the Racecourse, where Wrexham's dismal season ended in relegation from the League.
But while England were never as stylish as Pearce, dapper in his waistcoat, their firepower was enough to ensure Wales' 100th Under-21 match, became no greater milestone.
Flynn was without four Cardiff players, on FA Cup final duty, but Wales might have led but for Hart's brilliant reaction save from Sam Vokes in the early minutes.
England boasted bags of Premiership experience and led after 18 minutes, when Adam Johnson penetrated the Welsh penalty area before Lewin Nyatanga brought him crashing down.
. . .but England manager Fabio Capello and Sir Trevor Brooking are distracted by Wales boss John Toshack in the stands at Wrexham
Huddlestone stepped up confidently to send Wayne Hennessey the wrong way and the going got even tougher for the Welsh after 25 minutes when Walcott unleashed a shot that took a big deflection off David Edwards on its way past the goalkeeper.
Wales were all out of luck when Andrew Taylor's sliced attempt to clear a cross from lively David Cotterill looped over Hart but bounced off the bar.
England found themselves having to defend more often than they would have liked but Wales lacked the finishing touch to give the visitors anything more than a scare.
