Spurs target Negredo insists: I don't want to play in the Premier League

Target: Almeria's Alvaro Negredo

Tottenham look likely to miss out on signing Alvaro Negredo from Almeria after he said he was not interested in a move to England.

The 22-year-old, who finished as the Spanish club's top-scorer last season with 13-goals, has been linked with a number of La Liga sides along with Spurs.

But the Spain Under 21 star says he wants to continue his career in his homeland.

He said: "I don't think the time has come to make the step to the Premier League.

"I know several Spanish teams are interested in me, but I will only start to think of leaving Almeria if a really interesting offer would permit me to grow."
