Spurs, United and Chelsea ready to battle for Barca starlet

Tottenham and Manchester United have joined Chelsea in the race for Barcelona wonderkid Giovani dos Santos.

All three have 'made firm, substantial offers' for the 18-year-old Mexican, with Spurs hoping to steal a march by capitalising on Juande Ramos' contacts at Barcelona.

Talent: Giovani is wanted by a host of top sides

Attacking midfielder Giovani, who has a £20million release clause but would initially cost around £10m, has been eager to stay at the Camp Nou but realises his opportunities are restricted.

Tottenham are hopeful of resurrecting a £9m move for Alan Hutton, despite the Rangers defender's initial misgivings.

Spurs' original offer of £6m and Wayne Routledge or Anthony Gardner was rejected by Rangers.

Gardner could now go to Birmingham for £2m.
