St Bede's are schools' team of the year

St Bede's have won the Evening Standard 1st XI Team of the Year award, following a remarkable 28-victory season which culminated in them bringing home the England schools FA Cup.

St Bede's, who play in Celtic's green and white hoops, knocked out holders Millfield 1-0 in round seven before defeating Fortismere 3-0 in the quarters then Thomas Tallis a whopping 7-5 in the semi-finals.

In the final, played at Aldershot FC, St.Bede's triumphed over Carre's Grammar School with an emphatic 5-2 victory.

The team, coached by Dave Leggett and jointly captained by Macsen Lake Edwards and Luke Hodges scored a remarkable 145 goals in 32 games (conceding just 29), with England U18 international James Norwood and Moritz Diemer regularly hitting the back of the net.
