Stoke City boss Pulis tests Sunderland with £6m bid for goalkeeper Fulop

He has played only six games in two years since arriving from for £500,000, but keeper Marton Fulop was yesterday the subject of a staggering £6million transfer bid by .
The Hungary international, who was recalled from a loan spell at the Britannia Stadium last season, became Stoke boss Tony Pulis' No 1 choice after boss Tony Mowbray beat him to the signature of Scott Carson.
Wanted: Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop
Fulop played in Sunderland's 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon on Sunday and manager Roy Keane may be reluctant to sell the keeper, who is deputy to Scotland No 1 Craig Gordon at the Stadium of Light.
The offer, believed to be £3m with add-ons, would make him the most expensive Hungarian player ever.
The 25-year-old keeper was signed in a deal which took Sunderland-born keeper Ben Alnwick to White Hart Lane.
Fulop's chances have been hindered by Gordon, who joined for £9m from Hearts.
Meanwhile, keeper Shay Given has urged the club's board to heed manager Kevin Keegan's warning by bringing in new players before the start of the season and settling Michael Owen's future.
Republic of Ireland keeper Given, who is back in action after missing the end of last season with hernia problems, said: 'We have got a couple of new lads in but I think we need a good few more. It is a concern the longer we don't get them in.'
Owen is out of contract next summer and has been warned he faces a pay freeze at £120,000 a week if he wants to stay.
Given added: 'He's a quality player but if it takes another six months and he signs then so be it. Negotiations of that size don't happen overnight.'
