Striker Rooney ready for United's title showdown at Wigan

Wayne Rooney is expected to be back to help Manchester United in their bid to secure the Premier League title on Sunday.

More United news

The England striker came through a tough session at their Carrington training ground on Wednesday and is available for the final-day trip to Wigan.

It was feared he may have suffered a hernia problem in the 1-1 draw against Blackburn back in April.

He played in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final with Barcelona but was forced off during the defeat by Chelsea with the same problem and has missed the last two matches.

Next season, Sir Alex Ferguson will also have striker Manucho to call upon — and the Angolan cannot wait to report for pre-season training.

The 25-year-old arrived at United in January but because of work permit problems joined Panathinaikos on loan until the end of the season.

With three goals in five appearances for the Greek side, he is desperate to make an impact with United.

He said: "During my time in Greece, I feel that I've adapted well to European football and it has been a good test for me ahead of playing in England. I hope I can take my chance and prove myself with United."
