Striking legend Rush is quick to support 'dream' Welsh-Scots bid for 2016

Dragon star: Ian Rush, pictured during his Liverpool days, has backed the joint bid between Wales and Scotland

Welsh legend Ian Rush last night urged Scotland to submit a joint bid with his country for Euro 2016.

SFA chief Gordon Smith is considering mounting a campaign to co-host the championships with Wales and former Liverpool and Juventus striker Rush is adamant the two Celtic nations should go for it.

Rush said: ‘It’s a bit of a pipe-dream at the moment, but you live for dreams and that shouldn’t stop us trying. We’ve all seen these great tournaments on television and it would be unbelievable for it to be here in our backyard.

'Imagine what a boost that would give us. It would be an incentive for the players involved now to push on, but it would also encourage all ages to get involved in the game. I’d be fully behind it.’
