On-loan Derby midfielder Hossam Ghaly has hit back at former Birmingham boss Steve Bruce's claims that he was responsible for a move to St Andrews falling through.
Having been told his Tottenham career was over the Egyptian was set to seal a £3million transfer to Blues last August, but Bruce - who has since taken over at Wigan - called off the deal, claiming the midfielder had refused to co-operate in training.
But Ghaly, who had been in Egypt for the last three months training with his country and former club Al Ahly before last week joining the Rams until the end of the season, insists he has "never ever" complained about training.
"When I was at Birmingham, I didn't complain about the training," he said.
"Training was okay, the manager was okay, but you know when you go a place and you feel uncomfortable, it was like this for me.
"I was surprised when I heard that I had complained about the training, and that I had refused to run. That is wrong - I never ever complain about the training.
"When someone asks me to run, I run. I always work hard, first of all for myself, and then for the team. I had no problem with Steve Bruce or my team-mates.
"I told my agent I did not feel comfortable and he told Steve Bruce and asked for his story.
"It had nothing to do with the training ground, nothing to do with the manager, nothing to do with the team-mates. I had a good contract with Birmingham - better than with Tottenham - and the gaffer told me, he promised me, I would play always in my favourite position, in the centre of midfield.
"So everything was alright with me."
