Roy Keane had a £2.5m bid turned down last week but the Sunderland boss is still determined to get the Republic of Ireland international.

Hunt, 26, signed a new two-and-a-half year contract with Reading last summer but has not ruled out a move to the Stadium of Light.

Reading, however, want to offer the former Brentford player a new contract. Director of football, Nick Hammond, said: "He's done exceptionally well with us." Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko said he is "very close" to joining Juventus.

He played for Juve boss Claudio Ranieri at Valencia and said: "I'm enthusiastic about beginning a new adventure in Italy."
