Sunderland are awaiting scan results on Kenwyne Jones's knee injury which forced him out of Trinidad and Tobago's defeat to England.
The Sunderland striker only just made the game after recovering from a fractured wrist and he was substituted in the first half after a collision with keeper David James in England's 3-0 win at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Testing time: Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones.
Jones was hoping to stay with his family in Trinidad for a break but was today undergoing a scan to discover the extent of the injury to his right knee and whether he will require treatment at the Wearside club.
Sunderland's first pre-season match is on July 20 against Sporting Lisbon in an Algarve tournament, 11 days after the players are due to return for pre-season training.
Midfielder Dwight Yorke, who has still to decide on his Sunderland future after the completion of his contract, played the last 15 minutes of the England friendly to mark the end of his international career.
