Sven staying tight-lipped as City axe looms

Sven-Goran Eriksson refused to comment on his future at Manchester City but his agent Athole Still admitted today it is "looking odds against" him being there next season. The Swede has been under pressure since owner Thaksin Shinawatra said he was unhappy with City's slump.

Eriksson said today: "I had a meeting with Dr Thaksin and his people on Sunday morning and at this moment, with two games to go in the season, I don't want to make any comment about that. There are no more meetings planned until the season is over."

Still, however, fears his client will be sacked by Shinawatra. "I don't know," said Still.

"But it's looking odds against him staying.

"I am just giving an answer and a reasonably formed opinion.

"If Dr Shinawatra was going to give his ringing support we would have heard it over the last couple of days."

Still insists Eriksson, who has two years left on his contract after being appointed only last July, will not resign.

"I can say with assurance that Sven will not be walking," he added.

"You walk if you feel you have done a bad job and in Sven's case that is very, very far from the truth."
