Teen tragedy stuns Walsall

Walsall youth team player Anton Reid, 16, died after collapsing on the club's training pitch on Monday. Reid was resuscitated by medical staff at Aston University playing fields and airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The League One club postponed Monday's reserve game against Wolves and flags at Walsall's Banks's Stadium flew at half mast.

A club statement read: 'Players and staff have been left heartbroken by this tragedy.' The teenager listed his heroes as Rio Ferdinand, Ledley King and Pele. Youth team colleague Tom Faulkner said: 'All Anton talked about was football, he loved it. I'm really shocked. Everyone got on well with him. He was one of those kids everyone liked.'
