Teenage Luke gives classic ride in Plate
30 June 2007
Macorville looked all over the winner as his rider, Daragh O'Donohoe, sent him into the lead over two furlongs out, but Morris brought the 5-1 favourite with a sustained strong run up the inside rail to snatch a short-head victory.

On the bob: Juniper Girl just got the verdict to send favourite-backers home happy
"It's unbelievable — brilliant," said Morris, who has been with winning Newmarket trainer Michael Bell since his early teens and can still claim a 5lb allowance.
"She's such a star and has been a huge help in getting my career going.
"She broke a little bit slow today and I was probably a little further back than I wanted to be, but I just bided my time and let her get into the race.
"She stayed on really well and got every yard of the trip. In a battle, you want her on your side."
Trainer Bell said: "Juniper Girl has been in very good form and came here with a big chance. We knew she would get the trip and that the soft ground would suit her, but Luke gave her a fantastic ride. The race belongs to him as much as to her."
O'Donohoe must have thought he had the two-mile race sewn up until the last 100 yards when Morris began to chase him down, but was magnanimous in defeat when praising Juniper Girl and her young rider.
"It's hard to finish second because that was the first time my horse has got his ground this season. He ran a game, game race and battled all the way to the line," O'Donohoe said.
"On the day, he was just beaten by a filly that slogged and came from a long way back. She's done it well and I take my hat off to her."
