Teofilo injury only a blip, says Bolger

Teofilo's Classic prospects appear back on track after last week's injury scare. The Jim Bolger-trained colt's odds drifted wildly as rumours, confirmed the following day, emerged that Teofilo had a potential problem.

But Bolger is confident that the blip will not adversely affect the colt's bid for the Stan James 2,000 Guineas on Saturday week.

Speaking as Teofilo, who he hopes could become a Triple Crown contender, trotted on the gallops, Bolger said: "I'm not 100 per cent sure what it was, but I think it was an over-extension injury as he seemed sore at the back of his knee.

"But the soreness went after some time in the spa. The only concern I would have is that, with a niggling injury, we could get a recurrence or start something more serious.

"He will have his first canter tomorrow[Tuesday, do a half-speed gallop Thursday, work at the weekend and then again next Tuesday and, all being well, he will be on the plane for Newmarket."

Bolger is really happy with 1,000 Guineas favourite Finsceal Beo. He added: "I couldn't have been happier with her preparation and she is in great form."

After both horses' careers end this year, Bolger plans to mate them together next spring. Teofilo will remain in Ireland, the trainer insists.
