The big six who Scolari will battle to keep at Stamford Bridge

Luiz Felipe Scolari's first job will be to decide which players he wants to keep. Sportsmail looks at six key players who have been linked with a move away this summer and assesses their futures.
FRANK LAMPARD
The England midfielder has one year left on his contract and is tempted by a move to Inter Milan and former boss Jose Mourinho although he is set for more talks with Chelsea next week. He has a tremendous scoring record, having netted 110 times for the club since 2001. As vice-captain, he also has a big say in the dressing room and is part of the team’s English backbone. Would be a surprise if Scolari didn’t want to keep him.
RICARDO CARVALHO
One of the best defenders in the world, let alone the Premier League, but has
confirmed he wants to play for the club’s former manager, Jose Mourinho, who is now at Inter Milan. However, he is also a big fan of his national team boss Scolari and a
pay rise should convince him to stay.
DIDIER DROGBA
Maybe out of Scolari’s hands as the hierarchy have had enough of the striker’s antics on and off the pitch. Has been inspirational at times for Chelsea during his four- year stay. AC Milan want him and he wants them and Scolari is likely to have other ideas
as he contemplates a spending spree.

MICHAEL BALLACK
The Germany captain is another who is in need of contract talks as his current deal has one year left to run. He wants to commit his future to the club and produced some impressive displays in the second half of last season. However, Real Madrid and his former club Bayern Munich are monitoring his situation. Could be interesting if
Deco joins club.
ASHLEY COLE
Cole enjoyed a great relationship with Mourinho, who is a huge admirer of the left-back and is believed to want him at Inter. Showed he is one of the best players in his position with a strong showing in the Champions League Final and that should have convinced Big Phil.
MICHAEL ESSIEN
Should be the easiest of the six to keep as he still has four years left on his contract and has already intimated he wants to stay, but when Real Madrid are one of your
admirers you can never say never, as the Cristiano Ronaldo saga is showing.
The Ghana international is a vital squad member as he can play anywhere in midfield, as well as in defence in an emergency, and carries a strong physical presence.
