The 'bionic' man: Grant stunned by Terry's recovery from foot injury

John Terry comes roaring back for Chelsea with manager Avram Grant drooling about his 'bionic man' who can lead the club to a historic clean sweep of four trophies — and regain the England captaincy.

League One Huddersfield will not know whether central defender Terry will start for the first time since he fractured his foot against Arsenal in December, or be on the bench. Either way, Grant hailed his pitch leader's recovery as astonishing.

Quick recovery: Terry suffered a fractured foot against Arsenal in December but he is set to return for Chelsea this weekend

'I am surprised how quickly he has come back, maybe he is the bionic man,' said Grant. 'I have been all over the world and I have never seen a captain like him.

'He's a big influence for us because for me a captain also leads by example. We have missed him a lot on the pitch.'

Grant's reverence for Terry is reminiscent of far off days at Liverpool when the legend who built that club, Bill Shankly, used to invite visitors to take a walk around his formidable captain and giant centre-half Ron Yeats.

Chelsea's Israeli boss added that Terry has been an influential figure around the club even when he has not been playing. 'He was with us for the Carling Cup semifinal with Everton and he is so positive you want him near you or on the bench.' said Grant.

On the England front, Grant has plenty of respect for Steven Gerrard, who led his country in Fabio Capello's first game in charge against Switzerland, but he said: 'For England and Capello, and I don't want to say any bad words about other captains, it will be very good if John is captain again.

'You can talk about tactics and different formations, but he is a good leader and am sure if he had played against Croatia England would be playing in the Euro finals.'

If Huddersfield are harbouring hopes that Grant will see the FA Cup as the least important of their four targets, especially as they leave tomorrow for a Champions League trip to Olympiakos of Greece, they will be dismayed.

A glint came into Grant's eye at the mention of the FA Cup as he said: 'The first memory I have was back home as a child watching the Final on a black and white TV. Later, when I didn't have much money, I came to 10 Cup Finals from when I was 22 to 35.'

And just to underline his passion for the FA Cup and the three other trophies Chelsea chase, Grant said: 'Yes, it's a realistic target to win all four. It is realistic in our position. Of course it will not be easy but we will try.' With John Terry back in harness, you get the feeling Chelsea will take some stopping.
