But for British bobsleigh slider Gillian Cooke the perils of wearing a Lycra body suit became all too apparent.

Cooke was competing at a world championship race in St Moritz when the incident occurred as she bent down to push the bobsleigh down the track with her team-mate Nicola Minichiello.

The 27-year-old, who is bound for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, only became aware of the mishap after she had finished the run.
