The American goalkeeper's relationship with Villa owner Randy Lerner should sway the £2.5million deal the Midlanders' way despite interest in the 37-year-old veteran from Manchester City and Arsenal.
Robinson
Paul Robinson, Tottenham to Blackburn - Insider says: 3/5
Spurs' former England stopper has proved too expensive for Aston Villa. New Blackburn boss Paul Ince aslo took a look at Scott Carson and Carlo Cudicini. Spurs want £6million but Rovers are more likely to pay £4m.
Guthrie
Danny Guthrie, Liverpool to Newcastle - Insider says: 4/5
The midfielder impressed on loan at Bolton and Liverpool were hoping he would command a fee of £3million but Newcastle appear to have secured a bargain with a £2m move for the 21-year-old.
Taylor
Ryan Taylor, Wigan to Birmingham - Insider says: 4/5
The 23-year-old Taylor is likely to form a part of Olivier Kapo's move in the other direction. Wigan are likely to agree to the switch for £3million plus Taylor and the clubs are nearly in agreement, just £500,000 apart at present in negotiations.
Goian
Dorian Goian, Steaua Bucharest to Sunderland- Insider says 3/5
Sunderland hope to conclude a deal for Romanian defender Dorian Goian next week. The £2.5million valuation of the Black Cats is short of Steaua Bucharest's but the north-east club are still hoping that common ground can be met and a deal finalised for the 27-year-old central defender after the weekend.
Michael Chretien, Nancy to Fulham - Insider says 1/5
The highly rated right back has a number of clubs on his tail - most notably Sevilla - but the 23-year-old Morocco international is looking for uropean football, which Fulham cannot deliver. He's rated at £4million and two other Premier League sides are interested. One's in London and the other in the north-west.
