(INSIDER'S RATING: 0/5 means this deal's pie in the sky. 5/5 and it's a done deal)
Arshavin
Andrei Arshavin, Zenit to - The Insider says: 2/5
Arshavin would prefer a move to Barcelona or even Arsenal, but Spurs have come nearest to Zenit’s £21.5m valuation with a bid of £16m. However, although Juande Ramos is in the market for top-class forwards as he prepares to lose Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, he will more than likely abandon the bid for Arshavin if he is successful in signing Blackburn’s £17m-rated David Bentley to play alongside other new signings Giovani Dos Santos and Luka Modric. Bentley has flown home from Rovers’ training camp in Germany as speculation grows that he will move to White Hart Lane.
Kaka
Kaka, AC Milan to - Insider says: 1/5
Despite encouraging news from Italy that Kaka has been unsettled by the arrival of his fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho at the San Siro, there is little chance of Chelsea getting their man this summer. Stamford Bridge chief executive Peter Kenyon admits Chelsea have registered an interest, and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani confirms Kaka was discussed when he met Roman Abramovich on the billionaire’s yacht, but talk of a £120m bid has been dismissed by both sides. Expect Chelsea to try again in 12 months’ time, especially if they lose Frank Lampard to Milan’s neighbours Inter.
Stoor
Fredrik Stoor, Rosenborg to - Insider says: 5/5
A £1.5m deal is done and dusted but Stoor’s arrival at Craven Cottage is being delayed by Rosenborg’s bid to qualify for the UEFA Cup. With the Norwegian transfer window not opening until August 1, they cannot sign a replacement until next week and want the Sweden defender to play in Sunday’s Intertoto Cup third round second leg against Dutch side NAC Breda. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has good contacts in Scandinavia and has been tracking Stoor, 24, since he appeared in all three of Sweden’s games at Euro 2008.
Moutinho
Joao Moutinho, Sporting Lisbon to - Insider says: 3/5
Despite Sporting’s claims that the Portugal playmaker is not for sale, Moutinho has been touted around Europe for most of the summer with an asking price of £16-18m, including add-ons. That would be far too much for Everton to pay in one go, but they expect to bank £10.5m from Andy Johnson’s move to Fulham and would hope to spread the rest of the cost over the length of Moutinho’s contract.
Scharner
Paul Scharner, to - Insider says: 2/5
Wigan are unlikely to give in to Scharner’s demands for a new £40,000-a-week contract, but expect owner Dave Whelan to come up with a compromise deal to keep the colourful Austrian out of Villa’s clutches. Martin O’Neill needs defensive reinforcements and Scharner certainly fits the bill after a season of commanding performances at the heart of Wigan’s defence, but he has become a crowd favourite at the JJB Stadium and would think twice before becoming a smaller fish in a bigger pool at Villa.
Zabaleta
Pablo Zabaleta, Espanyol to - Insider says: 3/5
New City boss Mark Hughes is a confirmed admirer of Zabaleta having sent his scouts to watch the Argentina winger on several occasions when he was in charge at Blackburn. He now finds himself in need of a right-sided midfielder at City and, having considered the possibility of bidding for Fenerbahce’s Colin Kazim-Richards, may be ready to test Espanyol’s resolve with a £6m offer for the 23-year-old, whose move to the Premier League would be smoothed by the fact he holds a Spanish passport.
