Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the transfer moves this summer. His daily column offers you an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why ...
Don't miss your daily instalment of The Insider every weekday throughout the summer transfer window on these pages.
(INSIDER'S RATING: 0/5 means this deal's pie in the sky. 5/5 and it's a done deal)
Fletcher
Darren Fletcher, Manchester Utd to Everton - The Insider says: 3/5
United are reluctant to do any business until the Cristiano Ronaldo issue is unresolved. Everton, whose finances are reportedly not great, have other priorities - two central midfielders and a striker. But Toffees boss David Moyes rates the Scotland international and Fletcher is chasing regular first-team action.
Berbatov
Dimitar Berbatov, Tottenham to Manchester United - Insider says: 2/5
The Bulgarian is meeting with Tottenham officials this week to thrash out his future and, with Robbie Keane edging towards Anfield, Berbatov may negogtiate one more season at White Hart Lane in exchange for the promise of a lower valuation next summer. Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly fears that Berba is too expensive and doesn't work hard enough. But Fergie has reservations about his other targets: David Villa (too small), Roman Pavlyuchenko (lacking quality) and Samuel Eto'o (£32m for someone so lazy?).
Crouch
Peter Crouch, Liverpool to Portsmouth - Insider says: 5/5
Tottenham are still interested but Pompey will seal the deal if they can come up with some extra cash over the weekend. Expect an announcement on Monday . The England striker wants to work with Harry Redknapp and Liverpool need the funds for other deals - namely Gareth Barry and Robbie Keane.
Bentley
David Bentley, Blackburn to Tottenham, Insider says: 3/5
An agents' fee in this deal is a problem for Aston Villa, so busy Spurs are in pole position to capture the winger. Rovers want £15m in straight cash but White Hart Lane officials will attempt to pull off a £7.5m-plus-a-player coup. Ex-Leeds winger Aaron Lennon is the likely makeweight.
Edu
Edu, Valencia to Portsmouth - Insider says: 4/5
Portsmouth will beshort of cash if they complete their capture of Peter Crouch and former Arsenal star Edu on a free transfer appeals to Harry Redknapp. The Brazilian, who scored seven goals in 79 appearances for the Gunners between 2000 and 2005, has a British passport and wouldn't require a work permit.
Inler
Gokhan Inler, Udinese to Newcastle - Insider says: 4/5
Newcastle executive director (football) Dennis Wise flew to Switzerland for talks with Inler's agent Dino Lamberti and, despite Middlesbrough's interest in the Swiss Euro 2008 star, the Toon are on the verge of signing the midfielder for £4m. A two-year deal on twice his current salary awaits the 24-year-old at St James'.
INSIDER'S OFFERINGS: Lyon's attacking midfielder Sidney Govou is being offered to the british market by his agent... And AC Milan keeper Dida's agent is hawking his man's availability.
