The men who let England down when it counted: starting with turnip Taylor

Almost fell at the first hurdle in qualifying for Euro 92, but managed it thanks to a late Gary Lineker equaliser in Poland.
However, that's as good as it got, with winless England finishing bottom of their finals group.

Taylor: did he not like that?
Things went from bad to worse for Taylor as his side failed to reach the 1994 World Cup in the U.S.A. and the catchphrase "Do I not like that?" was born during an infamous October 1993 loss in Rotterdam. A week later, he was gone.
BOBBY ROBSON Failed to qualify for Euro 84
The foundation for Italia 90 glory was shaky, as his team failed to reach Euro 84 after slumping to a critical 1-0 defeat to Denmark at Wembley.
Happily, he rode out the criticism to lead England to the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals, Euro 88 (although the less said about that the better) and 1990 World Cup semis.
His planned departure was made public before the first of the nation's penalty shoot-out nightmares.
RON GREENWOOD Failed to qualify for World Cup 78
A touch harsh this as he was only in charge of England's final two qualifiers, both of which they won 2-0.
The damage had been done under Don Revie, who defected to the United Arab Emirates, leaving the FA searching for a steady head.
Greenwood stepped in and ended up guiding England to the 1982 World Cup in Spain, at which his team were knocked out in the second group stage.
He then resigned and retired.
SIR ALF RAMSEY Failed to qualify for World Cup 74
You'd have thought the man who won the World Cup would be unsackable. Think again.
After the glory of 1966 and quarter-final frustration of 1970, Ramsey was still in place to lead the nation to the 1974 World Cup in West Germany.
Unfortunately, the heroics of Poland keeper Jan Tomaszewski, and a rare error by Peter Shilton, left England with the most frustrating of 1-1 draws at Wembley in October 1973, and Ramsey heading for the exit a few months later.
