The Screamer - It's the talk of football
29 January 2008
The Ireland international, 25, has been carrying a knee injury of late but Roy Keane sees him as someone who can add creativity to the Sunderland midfield and may do a swap deal with Greg Halford.
Moyes convinced Lescott will stay
David Moyes insists Joleon Lescott's longterm future is with Everton, despite the defender attracting interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The £5million signing from Wolves has graduated to the Premier League with ease, but is unlikely to be joined at the club by Heerenveen's midfielder Michael Bradley, 20, after the Dutch club valued the American at £3.9m.
Sven attempts to land Benjani
Manchester City have made a surprise £5million offer to Portsmouth for striker Benjani.
City, who have also opened talks with Valencia's Miguel Angel Angulo, have been frustrated in attempts to land a striker after targeting CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love and Jo Alves. They have turned to Pompey's in-form Zimbabwe star as they try to bolster their European challenge.
Portsmouth are reluctant to sell but could be persuaded if they can find a replacement in time.
