The Screamer ... It's the talk of football
09 April 2008
Beckham's move to LA Galaxy helped earn him a staggering £24.7million to reclaim top spot from Ronaldinho.
Top earner: Beckham is reported to earn almost £25m a year
The former England skipper's base earnings of £2.8m have been boosted by income from endorsements and profit-sharing. It is estimated he will earn up to £128m during his five-year contract with Galaxy.
Jose Mourinho's golden handshake from Chelsea helped him top the manager's rich list for the third successive year, with £23.1m.
PLAYERS TOP 10: Beckham £24.7m; Ronaldinho £19.2m; Lionel Messi £18.3m; Cristiano Ronaldo £15.5m; Thierry Henry £13.4m; John Terry £11.08m; Michael Ballack £11m; Ronaldo £10.6m; Kaka £10.2m; Steven Gerrard £10m.

Steven Pienaar has told Everton to make up their minds whether they want him or not.
The signs are that they are stalling on the £2million deal to sign him from Borussia Dortmund and the South African midfielder said: 'I have a maximum transfer fee of £2.2m in my contract with Dortmund that is only valid until April 30. I cannot allow this deadline to expire because this is a transfer fee that is affordable to a number of clubs.'
-----
Aston Villa are interested in Bayern Munich's Willy Sagnol. The right back is contracted to Bayern for another two years.
But Sagnol, 31, would be available for around £1.5million.

Ashley Timms has appeared in court accused of blackmailing a Barclays Premier League player.
The former Manchester City Under 19s goalkeeper, 22, allegedly subjected the victim, a highly-rated star, to a £15,000 demand. Timms appeared at Manchester City Magistrates Court. He faced a single charge of making an unwarranted demand for money with menaces between March and April. Magistrates made an order banning publication of the victim's identity. Timms was bailed to appear at Manchester Crown Court on April 18.
