The Sunderland boss will table a £3.2million offer for Jaaskelainen, who has turned down a new contract at Bolton. He will join the race to sign Geremi, wanted by Middlesbrough, and has targeted Rossi, who was on loan at Newcastle and Parma last season.
Keane watched him play for Italy against England in the European Under-21s Championship, but Rossi said: 'My future is a bit confusing but I want to play for United.'
Neil Warnock admits it is unlikely Sheffield United will be reinstated in the Premiership.
An arbitration panel will today hear United's claim that West Ham should have been deducted points rather than fined £5.5million over the Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano transfers last year. Warnock, who quit as boss after relegation, said: 'I don't think anybody is anticipating a reversal of the decision, but it's right they carry on the fight because most people thought it was an injustice.'
Juventus and Roma will test Craig Bellamy's determination to stay at Liverpool.
The Wales striker, 28 next month, believes he can still be a success at Anfield even though boss Rafa Benitez appears to be pointing him towards the exit. Bellamy did not play in last month's Champions League Final and Liverpool will listen to offers of £10million. Juventus are rebuilding for a return to Serie A under 'Tinkerman' Claudio Ranieri and have made the former Newcastle and Blackburn player a target, although Roma may interest Benitez by offering Alessandro Mancini in exchange.
Despite his reluctance to leave, Bellamy could be tempted by the chance to follow in the footsteps of boyhood idol Ian Rush, who left for Turin 20 years ago. Bellamy has also been linked with a return to Blackburn as well as moves to Aston Villa and West Ham, the latter possibly involving Yossi Benayoun. Benitez continues to weigh up a bid for Real Zaragoza's talented Argentine striker, Diego Milito.
Everton's Tim Cahill wants boss David Moyes to sign his Australia team-mate Vince Grella from Parma. He was one of Australia's best performers in the World Cup and captained his club last season. He is keen to test himself in the Premiership and Cahill says Grella, 27, would be an asset in Everton's midfield.
Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung will step up his bid to buy Birmingham this week. The billionaire, who was unsuccessful in an attempt to take control of Reading, has already had his representatives visit St Andrew's to inspect club finances.
Birmingham owners David Sullivan and David and Ralph Gold are satisfied Yeung has the funds to buy them out if they decide to sell for around £50million. Sullivan has made it clear he would be happy to sell his stake in the club after 14 years, but chairman David Gold is undecided about relinquishing his involvement in Birmingham, having helped to rescue them from major financial problems in 1993.
Jimmy Bullard will have an intense two-week fitness test in America to determine whether he is ready to start next season. The Fulham midfielder, who injured his knee at Newcastle in September, will be monitored by Dr Richard Steadman, the renowned Colorado surgeon.
Further to a story in Saturday's paper, Sportsmail wishes to point out that football agent Francis Martin answered fully all the questions posed by the FA and Quest in connection with the inquiry into transfer irregularities and supplied the FA with full company accounts and bank statements.
