Manager Roy Keane has dismissed offers from Burnley and Leeds to take his former Manchester United team-mate on loan until the end of the season.
Future's bright: Liam Miller
Miller turned up late for a number of training sessions, team meetings and appointments for treatment, but the Sunderland boss said his time-keeping has improved.
"He's been on time," said Keane.
The manager confirmed that Bill Beswick, onetime sports psychologist under Steve McClaren with Middlesbrough and England, has offered Sunderland his services.
Keane saw Beswick when he was a United player and believes the ex-British basketball coach could be an asset.
Blues linked with Dutch master
Chelsea have again been linked with a move for Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Owner Roman Abramovich sees Huntelaar as a possible replacement for the unsettled Didier Drogba, should he leave, and knows Ajax are seeking £22million for the prolific forward.
Huntelaar, also said to interest Real Madrid and Manchester United, worked with Chelsea assistant Henk ten Cate at Ajax and is admired by Frank Arnesen.
Spurs want Kemani
Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is believed to want an answer from Espanyol by the weekend over his £4million bid for their goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.
The Cameroon international is said to be of interest to Manchester United but Ramos is anxious to plan for next season.
He has also been linked with Espanyol goalkeeping coach Thomas N'Kono.
Hammers prepare to downsize
West Ham have ditched plans for a new 60,000-capacity stadium amid fears they would not fill it.
They have been discussing a move away from Upton Park, built in 1904 and which holds 35,000, to a new site close to West Ham station.
The club's Icelandic owners are ambitious to make the club a top-six side and feel a bigger capacity would help them realise that.
Chief executive Scott Duxbury said: "We are looking at a 50,000 stadium with the option of extending it to 60,000. The last thing we want is empty seats."
Vaughan ready for the long haul
James Vaughan has vowed to fight for his future after returning from career-saving surgery in Colorado.
Everton's England U21 striker, rated by many Goodison insiders as the club's brightest prospect since Wayne Rooney, is back at their Finch Farm training complex after a second major knee operation.
Despite still being on crutches, the 19-yearold said: "I am in very good spirits. I know I am going to have to work really hard to get back to full fitness but I am ready to do whatever it takes."
Saints want Wright stuff
Southampton boss Nigel Pearson will try to sign West Ham's Richard Wright on loan to solve a goalkeeper crisis.
Pearson is without three keepers, including first choice Kelvin Davis.
