The Screamer... It's the talk of football

Javier Mascherano has been charged with improper conduct by the FA after being sent off against Manchester United. He is already banned for Sunday's derby clash with Everton at Anfield and could be hit with a further two-match suspension.

The case will be heard tomorrow week.

Facing punishment: Mascherano

Rafa Benitez's future is again under scrutiny after being linked with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The Liverpool boss may replace Frank Rijkaard.

Another Barca candidate, Jose Mourinho, is reportedly being offered £16million over four years to join Inter Milan.

Central defender Sami Hyypia, 34, is to sign a new contract, extending his Liverpool career past 10 years.

Sunderland duo fit to face Hammers

Sunderland's Kenwyne Jones and Carlos Edwards have been cleared to face West Ham on Saturday.

The Trinidad & Tobago FA had threatened to make both players sit out the match after they missed last night's friendly with Jamaica.

Neville targets top-level return

Gary Neville is hopeful he can still make a first-team return this season as he continues his comeback with a run-out for Manchester United reserves against Newcastle tonight.

The 33-year-old defender has not played a competitive game since suffering an ankle injury in March last year but said: "I've played three times for the reserves since the turn of the year and this is the longest run I've been on in terms of training and playing games.

"Hopefully I'll get a first-team game somewhere but that could prove difficult with the significance of the matches we have over the next few weeks."

Andersen jailed over Obi contract

Morgan Andersen, former director of Norwegian club Lyn, has been handed a one-year suspended jail sentence for forging contracts relating to Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi in 2005. Andersen said he will appeal.
