The Screamer...It's the talk of football

Burnley's approach to talk to Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws as they seek a replacement for Steve Cotterill has been rejected by Hillsborough chairman David Allen.

Burnley interviewed former Luton boss Mike Newell last night, while Blackpool manager Simon Grayson and Joe Royle are also on their shortlist.

Cotterill could be moving on to another Championship side, Preston, whose chairman Derek Shaw plans to approach him in the next couple of days as he looks for a successor to Paul Simpson, who was sacked on Tuesday.

Brian Little will be confirmed today as Wrexham's manager, with predecessor Brian Carey staying on at the Racecourse Ground to work with him.

Wrexham are in the League Two relegation zone and 53-year-old Little's two-and-a-half year contract is believed to include a release clause in the event of relegation next summer.

Wolves Academy boss Chris Evans is leaving after 17 years at Molineux to become Gary Megson's assistant at Bolton.

NOSWORTHY OUT UNTIL 2008

Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy will be out of action until the New Year after tearing his hamstring in Saturday's Tyne-Wear derby draw with Newcastle.

Nosworthy had been named in the Jamaica squad to face Guatemala in a friendly in Kingston next Wednesday.
