The Screamer...Newcastle's Owen consults German doctor, Jaaskelainen may quit Bolton and Liverpool's Reina dismisses Atletico interest

Michael Owen has gone back to Germany in a bid to speed up his recovery from a thigh injury sustained during England's 1-0 victory in Austria on Friday.

The 27-year-old striker is consulting specialist Hans Muller Wohlfahrt. Newcastle will pick up £100,000-a-week in compensation.

Jaaskelainen ponders Bolton future

Jussi Jaaseklainen, 32, is poised to quit Bolton after 10 years, with Arsenal and Inter Milan among the clubs considering a move for the highly-rated Finland goalkeeper.

Contract negotiations have broken down and his agent Peter Harrison said: 'There are no talks planned. I think Jussi will be leaving at the end of the season.'

Bolton's longest-serving player cost £100,000 in 1997, but Arsenal need a quality replacement if Jens Lehmann leaves.

Reina dismisses Atletico interest

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has dismissed Atletico Madrid's attempts to lure him away from Anfield.

Reina, 25, whose father Miguel played for the Spanish club, said: 'Interest from a team like Atletico makes me proud but at the moment it wouldn't be a good idea for me to move.'
