Tickets freeze angers Anfield

Rick Parry warned UEFA to brace themselves for an invasion of frustrated fans following their refusal to increase Liverpool's allocation of ticket for the European Cup Final.

Liverpool's chief executive is dismayed they have received only 17,000 out of 64,000 tickets and says 40,000 of the club's fans could descend on Athens for the May 23 clash with AC Milan.

Official ticket prices are £54, £95 and £136 but some Internet agencies are already advertising inflated packages, with the best seats costing nearly £2,000.

UEFA have also given Milan 17,000 tickets, with 20,000 going to their own distribution system and another 9,000 to a ballot.

Parry said: "We told UEFA there will be 40,000 Liverpool fans in the ground, by hook or by crook. Surely, then, it would be better to give us the tickets and let us distribute them fairly, without people having to go to extreme methods.

"From the first moment we sat down with UEFA last Friday in Athens, we asked if more tickets could be made available but were told no.

"We then asked if Milan were to return any tickets could we have these to distribute to our fans. Again, the answer was a resounding no.

"I was astonished by the UEFA spokesman who said Liverpool 'have done well' to secure 17,000 tickets. The bottom line is that we have not been given enough tickets and that should be obvious to everyone."
