Top 10 team-mate bust-ups

We take a look at some of the biggest sporting spats between team-mates...
10 Darren Campbell v Dwain Chambers, European Championships 2006
Darren Campbell was so furious with the inclusion of drugs cheat Dwain Chambers in the 4x100m relay team at the European Championships that he not only wouldn't talk to Chambers, but also refused to join his team mates in a lap of honour when they won gold.
9 Thomas Bjorn v Ian Woosnam, Ryder Cup 2006
When veteran golfer Thomas Bjorn heard that he hadn't been included in the 2006 Ryder Cup team, he didn't take the news at all well. So angry was the Swede, that he launched a verbal attack on captain Ian Woosnam calling the Welshman "pathetic" and "barmy". While this might not appear to be in the same league as the Roy Keane school of insults, in the golfing world this is as bad as saying something along the lines of "I'm going to kill your mother".
8 Danny Cipriani v Josh Lewsey, Wasps 2008
Cipriani may be a prodigious rugby talent, but the lad's got a mouth on him. Last year he got in an argument with Josh Lewsey in training over missed tackles. Cipriani said something and Lewsey floored him, leaving Cipriani with superficial cuts to his nose and lip. Despite this the next day all was well in the Wasps camp with director of rugby, Ian McGeechan saying: "It's nothing out of the ordinary. These are rugby players after all." Classic.
7 Ricardo Fuller v Andy Griffin, Stoke City 2008
Unhappy that West Ham striker Carlton Cole has been allowed to turn, shoot and score in the Stoke City penalty area, striker Ricardo Fuller decided to wait until all of Upton Park was watching before he chose to act. Just as Stoke were about to restart the match, the Jamaican walked all the way from the centre spot to the right back position to slap his captain round the face. Fuller was banned for three matches and fined £20,000 by the club.
6 Fernando Alonso v Lewis Hamilton, McLaren team mates 2007
These two despise each other. Like all F1 racers both thought that they were the better driver and their fierce rivalry spilled out again and again during their time together at McLaren. Things reached a nadir when Hamilton ignored team orders in qualifying at the Budapest Grand Prix, prompting Alonso to stop speaking to him for the rest of the season. Alonso soon left for Renault, and a year later Hamilton was crowned World Champion.
5 Roy Keane v Mick McCarthy, Republic of Ireland 2002
The Republic of Ireland captain walked out on his country just days before the start of the 2002 World Cup. In an uncharacteristic tirade of abuse launched at Mick McCarthy this time, Keano said to his manager, "Mick, you're a liar... you're a f***ing w****r. I didn't rate you as a player, I don't rate you as a manager, and I don't rate you as a person. You're a f***ing w****r and you can stick your World Cup up your arse. The only reason I have any dealings with you is that somehow you are the manager of my country! You can stick it up your bollocks."
4 Shoaib Akhtar v Mohammad Asif, Twenty20 World Cup 2007
Things got a little out of hand in a practice session at the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup when Pakistan players Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif had a confrontation. Words were exchanged and then, just to prove his point, Akhtar clouted Asif on the thigh with his bat. Subsequently Akhtar was sent home from South Africa. Still, must have been worth it.
3 David Batty v Graeme Le Saux, Blackburn Rovers 1995
After qualifying for Europe thanks to Alan Shearer's prolific scoring ability, the newly-crowned English champions had a torrid Champions League campaign. Out-played and over-stretched Blackburn imploded when David Batty and Graeme Le Saux decided to ignore Spartak Moscow, and instead chose to batter each other.
2 Bowyer v Dyer, Newcastle United 2005
Let's face it, Lee Bowyer has never been one to back away from a fight. As Newcastle continued to give the ball away to Aston Villa in a 2005 league match, opting against a quiet word with team mate Kieron Dyer, Bowyer just went berserk. Two seconds later and the two tried to rip each others' throats out. Both players received red cards, three match bans and Bowyer was fined six weeks' wages.
1 Joey Barton v Ousmane Dabo, Manchester City 2007
In a spot of training ground high-spiritedness, Joey Barton and Ousmane Dabo exchanged heated words. Knowing that the Scouser is not a man to be trifled with, the unsuspecting Dabo turned his back on Barton – never a wise move – whereby Barton knocked his team mate to the floor and beat him unconscious. Barton was given a four month suspended prison sentence after admitting to assault causing actual bodily harm.
