Torres shocked by the public row between manager and Liverpool owners

Fernando Torres has called for Liverpool's owners to unite behind Rafa Benitez ahead of Tuesday's must-win Champions League match in Marseille.

Torres has been shocked by the public row between his manager and American co-chairmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett and he said: 'This match is perhaps the most important since my arrival at Liverpool. It would be a big error to change the coach after the sensational reign he has had at this club.

'The people and players are with Rafa and we need total unity to resolve the situation in the Champions League.'
