Tottenham can force their way into the 'big four' next season, insists Spurs new boy Alan Hutton

Alan Hutton believes Tottenham can force their way into the "big four" next season.

The £9million right-back signed from Rangers in January but is already convinced Spurs can qualify for the Champions League.

He said: "I wanted to come down here and progress as a player and I think I can do that.

"I have fitted into the squad quickly and, hopefully, I and the team can improve next season.

"I don't see why we cannot force our way into the top four. The manager will be strengthening the squad, so hopefully we can challenge in the future."

Hutton was unable to prevent Middlesbrough from snatching a point in a 1-1 draw on Saturday after an own goal by Jon Grounds had put Spurs in front.

The defender slid the ball into his own net following a wonderful piece of skill from Dimitar Berbatov unlocked the Boro defence.

But the visitors levelled in the second half through Stewart Downing after David Wheater had earlier seen his header cleared off the line by Aaron Lennon.
