Tottenham fans hit in the pocket by huge increase in season ticket prices

Prices at White Hart Lane are up 10.7 per cent, the fourth-highest rise in the top flight. In comparison, Arsenal have raised their season ticket prices by 2.6 per cent, while at Chelsea there was no increase at all, according to research by the BBC.
Hit in the pocket: Spurs fans have seen the biggest season ticket increase of any London club
Only Sunderland (21.9 per cent), Portsmouth (17.5) and Blackburn (12.9) have imposed sharper rises than Tottenham.
A statement from Spurs said: "In order to progress both on and off the pitch, we need to continue to raise our level of investment in the squad and all areas of the club's operations and facilities."
The research showed that the cost of season tickets for next year at Premier League clubs has risen by eight per cent, more than twice the rate of consumer price inflation. The average cost of a mid-priced season ticket has risen to £590.
At Premier League champions Manchester United, whose supporters have complained about hefty price increases since the club were taken over by American owners, a season ticket in the Upper East Stand will cost £665, a rise of six per cent on last season.
Clubs in the top flight have benefited from television revenues which have risen dramatically but that has not prevented most of them from hiking up season ticket prices. Liverpool, Newcastle and Bolton have yet to reveal their prices for next season.
