Track talk: Fit-again Munro set for comeback next month

Alan Munro has received his jockey's licence and hopes to make his British comeback on the all-weather late next month.

The 41-year-old, who has been out of action on medical grounds for 17 months, rode out for trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam on Tuesday.

Needs further: Hedgehunter

He said: 'I am in the middle of arranging to ride abroard before starting back here. I will go to (trainer) Rod Millman's to ride out on February 20 and I hope to be back riding in races here soon after that.'

CHAMPION jockey Seb Sanders' appeal against a 24-day ban for whip offences issued under the totting-up procedure will be heard by the BHA today.

ASCOT, which stages the Victor Chandler Chase on Saturday, was raceable yesterday but would be threatened by further rain.

Ludlow and Taunton today and Chepstow tomorrow are off. Monday's Lingfield jumps card has been moved to Folkestone.

RULE SUPREME, a Cheltenham Gold Cup entry, runs for the first time since June 2005 in the Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles today.

He lines up alongside stablemate Hedgehunter but both geldings are likely to find the trip too short.

Smart Irish chaser In Compliance has been ruled out of the race and faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury.

Trainer Michael O'Brien said: 'We don't know how bad it is yet but I don't think he'll be going anywhere for a while.'
