Wise: Plans in limbo
But he has been left in limbo after it was confirmed that, as a result of going into administration, all transfer activity has been suspended until after a meeting of creditors at the end of the month.
A date for the meeting to discuss the sale of Leeds back to chairman Ken Bates will be announced in the next 48 hours, but Sportsmail understands it is unlikely to be before May 29.
Elland Road insiders fear that top targets could be lost to other clubs in the intervening fortnight.
"It could have a damaging effect on incoming and outgoing transfers," said one. "Buying clubs always have more than one player in mind and may well move on to the next one on the list, rather than wait to see what happens at Leeds. Equally, there is a real danger anyone Dennis is after could be snapped up."
Administrators KPMG confirmed that the League put a stop to any transfers in or out of Leeds from the moment Bates took the club into administration.
Wise hopes to raise funds by selling David Healy, Richard Cresswell, Kevin Nicholls and Shaun Derry but now looks like having less than a month to overhaul his squad before pre-season training.
