Tremlett taps into aggressive side

Chris Tremlett squeezed his 6ft 7in frame into a chair at Trent Bridge and insisted he now has the presence, as well as the right body language, to build on a promising first Test for England.

Tremlett, 25, whose perfect physical attributes for fast bowling have been compromised before now by perceived mental fallibility, capitalised on his late call-up for Lord's by taking four Indian wickets. Now he wants to build on that display tomorrow at Trent Bridge.

"I've managed to get myself back with England through a lot of hard work," he said.

"I've looked at my body language and how it could be improved. I want to show people there is an aggressive side to me."

The two key figures in his 'transformation' from big friendly giant to new-found aggressor are both, predictably, Australian: his Hampshire captain Shane Warne and Stuart Clark.

"I've been working with Warney for three years and he sat me down at the start of this season and asked me where I wanted to go. I told him I've always wanted to play for England.

"Stuart Clark is a kind guy but when he steps on the pitch he has that something about him, like Glenn McGrath. Getting angry and swearing at people is not something that comes naturally to me but hopefully I can now have the mind-set of convincing myself that I really don't like batsmen. People wrote that I had no heart nor desire when I played in Australia last winter and things like that really hurt.

"I want to show people that I can cope with the pressure."
