Trio of coaches pay price after failing in the NFL

Eric Mangini of the New York Jets was one of three NFL head coaches sacked yesterday, less than 24 hours after the end of the regular American Football season.

Rod Marinelli of, the struggling Detroit Lions, and Romeo Crennel, of the Cleveland Browns, also lost their jobs.

The Lions were the first NFL team to lose all 16 games in a season, while the Jets missed out on the play-offs for a second successive year.

The New Yorkers lost four of their final five games, while the Browns slipped to six straight losses in the season run-in.
