Terim has coached AC Milan and Fiorentina as well as Galatasaray in the past between stints with Turkey.

Philipp Lahm scored Germany's last-minute winner to end a tournament punctuated by Turkish delight but Terim was proud of his team, depleted by injuries and suspensions.

He said: 'Sometimes when we win you could ask yourself if it was fair too. This was the result and we have to accept it. I think we were the better side.

'I congratulate Germany for their win but I am proud of my players.'
