Last season's gallant Northumberland Plate runner-up is sure to be targeted at the Newcastle marathon again next month, but today's prize is a healthy one to secure and the five-year-old caught the eye with a promising comeback effort at Newmarket.

Man of the moment: Chapple-Hyam
He was doing his best work in the final two furlongs that day and looks primed to run a big race at the north west venue.
Luca Cumani is a brilliant trainer of middle-distance handicappers and the fact he boasts so much strength in that sphere this season means SANBUCH (Haydock, nap, 2.05) is worth considering.
Make no mistake this is a tough handicap with a host of unexposed three-year-olds in opposition.
However, Cumani has the likes of Mad Rush, Filios, Wing Express, Lion Sands and Monte Alto — all winners this season — under his tutelage and his decision to allow the Tobougg colt to take his chance could be worth heeding.
Sanbuch was unlucky last time at Goodwood when bumped at the start before meeting trouble in running and a galloping track like Haydock, where his handler has a cracking strike rate, should suit ideally.
ALFIE FLITS (Musselburgh, next best, 3.15) is another example of Alan Swinbank's superbly versatile Yorkshire operation.
The former bumper winner has made the career switch to become a Listed Flat horse seamlessly and he was far from disgraced at Goodwood last week when fifth to Ivy Creek returning from a two-month absence.
MATTEROFACT (Lingfield, 8.25) has been kept busy of late and trainer Malcolm Saunders appears to have found a good opportunity for his filly tonight.
The daughter of Bold Fact ran well in defeat at Thirsk on Monday and she has the favourable near-side rail and the considerable presence of championship leader Seb Sanders in her favour.
Today's lay vote goes the way of Lemonette (Windsor, 3.00) who seems to prefer accompanying the winner, rather than passing it.

GOODFELLOW'S SUNDAY BEST
RAINBOW BAY (Bath, nap, 5.10) did us a good turn when winning at Catterick yesterday and, if fully over those exertions, David Evans's sprinter may be able to strike while the iron is hot and score again tomorrow.
Having defied a penalty yesterday, his trainer will be keen to bring his four-year-old gelding out again before the handicapper can reassess him and burden him with even more weight.
