Turner's Earners - top tips for Sunday: This time it's Tartan

After beating everything that Epsom had to throw at him, Derby winner New Approach returns to his own backyard bidding to add tomorrow's Irish version at The Curragh to his list of big-race triumphs.
Last season's champion juvenile relished the step up to 12 furlongs in the English version to edge out the improving Tartan Bearer and score by half a length.

Jim Bolger's charge is an understandably short price to repeat the performance and there can be little doubt that he will take some beating, especially as today's venue represents a home fixture for him.
However, TARTAN BEARER (The Curragh, tomorrow, 3.50) was having only his fourth race at Epsom and emerged with great credit considering that the track did not appear to suit Sir Michael Stoute's long-striding son of the 1995 Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Spectrum.
He had previously shown his preference for a more conventional course when winning the Dante Stakes at York from Frozen Fire and the recent rain in Ireland will surely assist the Newmarket raider who is bred to enjoy some cut in the ground and, at this morning's prices, looks the value wager in the Classic.
