Turner's Earners - Top tips for the weekend's British racing

Sam Turner (Robin Goodfellow), Brain Giles (Gimcrack) and the rest of the Mail's top tipping team bring you their best bets for Saturday and Sunday's British meetings:

By saddling a quarter of the 20-strong field in the John Smith's Cup, trainer Richard Fahey appears intent on repeating his previous victories and the gutsy FLYING CLARETS (York, 3.15) looks a tasty bet at a big price.

The Yorkshire handler clearly targets today's valuable handicap as Vintage Premium landed the 10-furlong event in 2002 while Fahey saddled the first two home in Charlie Tokyo and Flying Clarets 12 months ago.

Form judges will point out that the selection was beaten off a lower mark last year, but she appears to have improved since and the booking of inform Frederik Tylicki helps to offset some of the extra burden.

The seven-pound claimer may sound more like a Scandinavian DJ than a jockey, but his performances in the saddle have been making enough noise of late and we saw at Newmarket this week courtesy of David Probert, that in-form apprentices are worth plenty in big handicaps.

Admittedly, this will be the biggest day of his embryonic career but in Flying Clarets, Tylicki has a partner who could find her way around York blindfolded.

Seven runs in handicaps and maidens have yielded figures on the Knavesmire of 3132221 and she looks a fair each-way bet at the 16-1 on offer this morning.

Of those at the shorter end of the market, Willie Haggas-trained Mutajarred makes most appeal as he hails from a yard who can do little wrong at present.

Added to that the four-year-old's boasts course experience, a favourable draw and a preference for cut in the ground so he has all the credentials to run a huge race.

RAMONTI (Ascot, 2.55) makes his long-awaited reappearance in the Summer Mile and, with Godolphin's battalions finally cranking into gear, the multiple Group One winner should find today's test a suitable starting point.

BAHAMIAN CEILIDH (Nottingham, nap, 3.10) clocked a smart speed figure when accounting for a decent rival at Lingfield last time and could take some stopping if the ground continues to dry out at Colwick Park. Today's lay is Thompsons Walls (Nottingham, 4.15).

ROBIN GOODFELLOW'S DOUBLE: Bahamian Ceilidh (Nottingham, nap, 3.10) and Hawkit (Hamilton, 8.45)

GIMCRACK'S DOUBLE: Cesare (Ascot, nap, 2.55) and Rhadegunda (York, 5.00)

CAPTAIN HEATH'S NAP: Mutajarred (York, 3.15)

FORMCAST SPECIAL BET: Dickie Le Davoir (Hamilton, 8.15) THE WIZARD: Bold Bobby Be (Salisbury, 8.30)
