Steven Taylor will cost Newcastle millions by seeing out the final 13 months of his St James’ Park deal.
The £8m-rated England Under-21 skipper is angry at the lack of contract talks and is prepared to walk out on a free if nothing is sorted.
Taylor, 22, wants to stay on Tyneside but is one of the Magpies’ worst-paid players.
Aston Villa, Everton and Portsmouth are all keeping tabs on him and he can start talking to other clubs in January.

As he is under 24 years old the Geordies would get some compensation — but it would be a lot less than his transfer value.
Former Toon defender Steve Howey told The Sun: “Steven needs to get a deal he’s happy with. If he signs the wrong deal and then somebody else comes in earning double, you can see it from his point of view.”
