Unhappy return for Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan hopes to find top form before the end of the season despite a disappointing return to County Championship action.

Vaughan scored only 10 for Yorkshire against Kent at Scarborough as he batted for the first time since standing down as Test skipper earlier this month.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed a break since his tearful resignation but is now hoping to win a place on the winter tour to India.

"There have been stages this summer where I've hit some good shots, but I haven't played that really long innings," he said.

"That's what I am looking to do over the next few weeks and if I can play some really long innings for Yorkshire it will also make a difference to the team."

Despite Vaughan's failure, his team ended the opening day in a strong position. Kent were bowled out for 227 and Yorkshire closed on 85 for two.
