Unseen footage showed real Berba rift with Jol

There is TV footage showing that former Tottenham manager Martin Jol's relationship with his star striker Dimitar Berbatov had deteriorated even further after the Bulgarian substitute's sulky response to being called into action against Newcastle.

At the Spurs training session after the defeat at St James' Park, Berbatov is clearly seen gesticulating at Jol in a heated one-to-one confrontation.

In happier times: Martin Jol and Dimitar Berbatov

However, the TV network that filmed the incident have been prevented from broadcasting the tape due to the nervousness of their lawyers as the Jol-Berbatov showdown was shot through a gap in the fence at the training ground.

Jol had been a lame-duck boss for weeks. But the board were waiting to secure a world-class replacement who could do a better job - and they put Sevilla's Juande Ramos in that category.

The hope was Jol would stabilise the team before leaving, but the slide down the table and the Berbatov split made his exit inevitable.
