Vandevelde set to bounce back

American Christian Vandevelde is still targeting a top-three finish depite crashing on stage 16 in the Alps. Vandevelde fell off on a speedy descent and is now just over three minutes behind third-placed Australian Cadel Evans. He said: "It's not over by any means."

South Africa's John-Lee Augustyn suffered a horrendous fall as he misjudged a hairpin and slid off his bike and part of the way down the mountain. Luckily, thick dirt cushioned his fall and he got back on a replacement bike to finish 35th. "It was pretty frightening," he said.
