Michael Vaughan's tenure as England captain will come to an end at lunchtime today, according to increasing rumours this morning.
A press conference has been called for 1pm, with Vaughan due to be in attendance along with England's chief selector Geoff Miller and Hugh Morris, the managing director of the team.
Vaughan has come under fire after a string of poor scores with the bat.
Michael Vaughan couldn't hide his dejection as England went down to a five wicket defeat against South Africa at Edgbaston
He was out for a golden duck and then 17 in the third Test at Edgbaston, which South Africa won to clinch their first series win in England since 1965.
Kevin Pietersen is the likely choice to lead England in the fourth Test, which begins on Thursday at the Oval. Vaughan is thought to want to continue playing in the team, despite losing the captaincy.
