Vaughan, 18, signed a four-year contract with Everton last week to end fears that he would choose the same path as Rooney, who signed for Manchester United in a £27 million deal at the same age.

Vaughan, who is the Premiership's youngest goalscorer — a record Rooney used to have — faces Chelsea confident that Everton is the perfect club to help him progress and knowing a point will guarantee a UEFA Cup place next season.
"Everton is a cracking club for bringing through young talent," he said. "The coaches help you develop. They tell you what you've done right and what you've done wrong — they won't lie to you.
"If someone had told me at the start of the season I would be leading the attack against Chelsea with another young player, Victor Anichebe, I wouldn't have believed them.
"I know I will get better at Everton playing with the likes of Mikel Arteta and Leon Osman. Strikers thrive on good service and they will help me improve."
